What will your day look like?

You will be responsible for strategically leading and directing short and long-term goals and policies and procedures for the Credit Union’s Software, Systems and Data Services workgroups. This role stays attuned to emerging Digital technology advances and alternatives, industry trends and issues and assesses to provide expert knowledge and recommendations to the Technology Leadership team. Have the ability to create and foster a team environment that encourages personal initiative, creativity, technical development and achievement of engagement and business goals. By developing and executing agreed upon strategy, this role will ensure the delivery of highly available, reliable, and scalable solutions that support multiple channels including but not limited to online banking, mobile banking, new member account opening, loan origination, core system enhancements, data warehouse and third party integrations. Participate on senior leadership team representing the technology perspective and overarching strategic objectives of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and oversight for the Credit Union’s long-term and short-term goals that support the Business and Technology Plan Initiatives for the enterprise’s digital, web, data and core system software development efforts.
  • Identify and adhere to technical standards used within the organization
  • Seek ways to continuously improve development methods and processes to maximize productivity and quality
  • Study technology trends, innovation, competitive functional advancement and member/market trends in order to determine proposed changes to existing products and/or technology stack.
  • Ensure that a secure architectural integrity is maintained and the team is adhering to best practice standards.
  • Manage and prioritize team and contract resources based on evolving and shifting business priorities.
  • Work closely with various department heads to craft solutions that meet business goals and technical constraints without compromising the user experience.
  • Think API first (e.g. REST, SOAP)
  • Analyze proposed and approved projects in terms of cost/benefits of applying web-development solutions.
  • Drive the virtues of test driven development and a continuous integration/deployment pipeline.
  • Leadership of multiple agile/SCRUM development teams focused on delivering software iteratively in working chunks.
  • Foster a culture of DevOps within the technology team
  • Promote cooperation, negotiation and communication among and within teams and business partners.
  • Ensure and improve the performance and availability of digital and web-based technology systems by driving and identifying continuous improvement efforts both internally and with third party provider.
  • Provide guidance and direction to Manager of Core Software Development and the Data Services Manager.
  • Independently analyze system architectures and data structures for all custom software applications to ensure the integrity of the production environment.
  • Manage projects, budgets, and professional staff effectively providing direction and day-to-day management for all digital web, mobile, core system and data services development efforts at the enterprise level.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Manage third party vendors to ensure successful maintenance and operations of production applications.

  • Manage and mentor team members to meet organization and development goals, develop their talents and expand their technical skill sets.

 

Qualifications

What makes you a great fit?

You’ll be a great fit if in addition to the Completion of a Master or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, 10+ years in professional software development experience, preferably in a financial services environment, and you have:

  • 5-10 years progressive Information Technology experience leading software engineering teams in an agile development environment, developing API’s and web service concepts such as REST, SOAP, and XML/JSON business object representations and/ or designing and writing scalable ASP.Net, C#, .NET Framework, HTML, JavaScript applications
  • Solid understanding and experience in a continuous build, test, deployment environment
  • Must have a passion for leading, coaching and inspiring a team to develop and deliver cutting edge financial Software solutions, support and data services.
  • Experience with mobile application development including Responsive Design, Native (iOS, Android) and Xamarin platforms
  • Experience in Data Services development including but not limited to SAP Business Objects and Informatica platform tools.
  • A knowledge of ITIL Service Foundations and Service Design best practices
