What will your day look like?

You will be responsible for facilitating and optimizing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. Primary responsibilities include serving as the finance department liaison on all enterprise projects, leading process reengineering/automation efforts, managing the accounting software solution (Blackline), reconciling complex account reconciliations and providing ongoing support to the accounting operations team. The role will require a high level of collaboration within finance and across the business. The Accounting Lead will be tasked to provide support and guidance to team members to resolve process issues, reconciliation breaks and other accounting matters. The ability to work on multiple systems and applications, and be able to troubleshoot any outstanding issues within those systems is also required. Responsibilities

  • Primary resource identifying current accounting operation processes that can be targeted for improvement, including the evaluation, development, and implementation of efficiency objectives for various processes.
  • Will be responsible for all enterprise projects, including acting as the primary liaison with Finance department, to take part in the planning phase of enterprise projects defining all of the requirements needed. This will include communicating with the entire finance department stakeholders during the planning, development, testing, and implementation phase of the enterprise project.
  • The individual will be responsible for the ownership of the Blackline Accounting application and will be required to obtain an expert understanding of the application, and be able to facilitate the accounting operations team to fully utilize the modules within the accounting application. This will include maintaining the current interfaces with the Credit Union’s ERP system, implement additional modules within the application that will create efficiencies for the accounting operations team, and be the primary individual creating performance reporting for the accounting operations team.
  • Maintains working relationships through communication with all internal and external business partners to grow relationships, resolve outstanding issues, and obtain an understanding of new products.
  • Support month end process by ensuring timely completion of assigned responsibilities and clearing of open items, and preparing necessary journal entries for reconciling items within accounts.
  • The Accounting Lead will be the main point of contact for the Accounting Operations, Financial Reporting, and Procurement teams during all audits and examinations.

Qualifications

What makes you a great fit?

You’ll be a great fit if in addition to the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, 5-7 years of relevant accounting experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience, and you have:

  • Financial institution experience preferred
  • CPA certification a plus
  • Advanced skills in primary Microsoft software applications(Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and deal with heavy volume periods with tight time parameters
  • Excellent relationship management and customer service skills; be self-motivated and able to deliver to strict schedules, as well as work with and incorporate input from other areas.
  • Ability to communicate and present at all levels of an organization
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to all processes within the organization, and be willing to challenge the status quo.
