What will your day look like?

You will be responsible for working with Software Engineers and Software Quality Assurance Analysts (SQAA) to ensure code, services and products seamlessly move from development through rollout and into production. As a member of an agile software development team, you will implement the DevOps Continuous Testing Strategy at Alliant. This is a “greenfield” opportunity where your input and expertise is needed. You will design, implement and continuously improve our continuous testing release pipeline to meet our needs today and into the future. This is a hands-on job that requires analytical thinking, technical aptitude and an ability to work closely with members of the development team (i.e., engineers and testers). Successful candidates should have experience scripting and selecting test frameworks, and coding automated tests for the release pipeline.

  • Support and improve our tools for continuous testing and release management
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and development teams to deliver high quality automation
  • Participate in design discussions in order to create effective test strategies
  • Design and build the automated test frameworks and test suites for use in development and testing cycles
  • Integrate test automation from multiple sources/teams into a continuous testing release pipeline
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve test automation reports and dashboards
  • Research, recommend and configure automated test frameworks, tools and processes into the continuous testing pipeline
  • Work closely with project-focused agile development teams to ensure effective coverage of DevOps use cases
  • Analyze, execute and automate manual test suites to drive efficiency and quality throughout the organization
  • Perform unit level verification of scripts used for deployment automation
  • Diagnose problems and report bugs and enhancements to Development
  • Participate in design and code inspections
  • Utilize innovative test technologies to develop product/value stream testing strategies
  • Maintain code repositories
  • Manage release branches
  • Build and sanity test release binaries (server-side)
  • Push new releases to production (server-side)
  • Develop custom programs when required
  • Document release procedures so that they're repeatable
  • Troubleshoot complex problems affecting code deployments
  • Install and maintain various configuration management tools
  • Maintain and improve current build, integration, testing and release processes
  • Maintain the build process to support ongoing R&D
  • Build and champion DevOps for the organization
  • Set up and maintain reporting tools for various metrics
  • Maintains and upgrades SDLC tools
  • Develop and deploy manual and automated SDLC reports


What makes you a great fit?

You’ll be a great fit if in addition to the Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, 3 years of in application development, testing and/or automation, and you have:

  • Deep expertise in designing, building, operating and integrating Continuous Testing (CT)automation frameworks with Continuous Integration (CI)
  • Experience managing and executing builds
  • Experience writing scripts to automate large scale operations using CI tools (e.g., Chef, Puppet, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of QA methodology, test automation frameworks, techniques and approaches
  • Good TFS/SQL/OLAP report generation and metrics experience is ideal
  • Team Foundation Server 2013/2015 and TFS security
  • Advanced understanding of source control management
  • Familiarity with concepts of object oriented design
  • Demonstrated expertise and understanding of development processes (i.e., SDLC)
