    What will your day look like?

    You will be managing all aspects of the intake, documentation, and reporting related to the identification and remediation of all risk issues and events for the Alliant organization. Working with the business functions to understand the root cause of risk issues and events, the Manager, Issues and Events Remediation will lead the Remediation Team to provide guidance and recommendations for effective and efficient remediation of issues. This includes the development or enhancement of internal controls to reduce future events and improve the self- identification of issues. You will be responsible for the ongoing management of the full inventory of issues ensuring timely and accurate closure of all issues and events within established standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing key stakeholders timely and accurate reporting on the status of all risk related issues and events.

    Responsibilities

    • Working with the line of business to ensure that all Risk Issues and Events are comprehensively captured and closed within established target dates
    • Identifying business risk issues in each area, and proactively promoting possible solutions to manage risks
    • Identifying material operational and compliance risks, assessing the effectiveness of control design, and ensuring that any control gaps identified are managed until closed within agreed upon timelines
    • Developing and implementing standards and policies appropriate for the business that conform to the principles and policies established by Risk Management
    • Providing thought leadership and industry best practices in the development and justification of issues and events remediation enhancing initiatives
    • Monitoring and producing standard Issues and Events Reporting for Senior Management and Governance Committees; compiling information, analyzing data to develop insights on quantitative/qualitative risk analysis and making continuous improvement recommendations
    • Preparing and providing issues and event information and management responses as it relates to requests from second and third line of defense reviews or external exams
    • Ensuring proper retention of all remediation activity, approvals, and documents
    • Representing the business risk office as the issues and events subject matter expert in business and governance meetings as required
    • Providing a structured and consistent approach to ensure that individual development plans are in place, performance management is consistent and ongoing coaching and feedback are provided on a regular and dynamic basis 

    Qualifications

    You’ll be a great fit if in addition to the completion of a high school diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred, 5+ years risk and compliance experience required preferably in Financial Services industry, and you have/are:

    • A minimum of 3+ years leading cross functional teams
    • Advanced knowledge of internal control design, risk framework, and principles
    • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
    • Effective stakeholder management skills
    • Expert problem solving, decision making and analytical skills
    • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications
    • Highly effective time and project management skills
    • Technical aptitude and ability to work collaboratively with a team
    • Strong written and oral communication skills across all levels of the organization with the ability to interpret and explain information to audiences who are not familiar with the subject matter, often requiring persuasion
    • Desire to continually learn and improve approaches and methodologies
