    What will your day look like?

    You will be responsible for underwriting and rendering loan decisions on consumer loan applications referred and received through the Loan Decision Engine and other retail and third party wholesale application sources. Work involves moderate difficulty in reviewing applicant credit information, determining and communicating loan decisions in accordance with underwriting and compliance standards, credit union policy and risk tolerance in a high volume, fast paced environment. Resources to do the job require the ability to analyze and interpret credit information including income tax returns, and all types of valuations including appraisals.

     

    Responsibilities

    Do you see yourself doing this?

    • Analyzes and makes final approval decisions on all consumer loan applications referred from Loan Decision Engine and other retail and third party wholesale loan application sources.
    • Makes appropriate recommendations including counter offering, restructuring and referring to other credit union products/services.
    • Underwrites loans by analyzing credit reports, tax returns, pay statements and W2 forms. Interprets collateral valuations and appraisals as necessary to protect the credit unions interest.
    • Grants or declines loans based on Credit Union policies, guidelines and risk tolerance.
    • Makes recommendations on loans outside of consumer underwriter’s lending authority as delegated by the Vice President of Lending in accordance with the Board of Director’s Consumer Policies.
    • Provides support and assistance for loan and system testing and participates in the loan level due diligence reviews for consumer loan purchases by the Loan Trade Desk
    • This position will rotate between direct and indirect underwriting assignments based on needs of the operation.
    • This position will require Saturday hours as part of a normal schedule of work from Tuesday through Saturday with Mondays off.

    Qualifications

    What makes you a great fit?

    You’ll be a great fit if in addition to the completion of a Bachelor’s degree, 3 – 5 years of previous experience in mortgage or consumer lending in an automated decision environment, and you have:  

    • Significant loan approval authority; or equivalent combination training and experience will be considered
    • Strong organizational, technical, analytical and decision making skills
