    What will your day look like?

    You will be responsible for assisting with the development and execution of the overall Software Quality Assurance strategy for Alliant Credit Union’s web and mobile applications.

    Working in an Agile software development environment, the LNP engineer will provide application, infrastructure and platform performance expertise, drive execution and adoption of the testing strategy, assist in identifying testing tools, disseminate the testing approach to implementation teams for all Alliant software products and services, and be responsible for ensuring product stability. This is a hands-on role that requires analytical thinking and technical aptitude. Direction is received from the Manager of Software Quality Assurance.


    Do you see yourself doing this?

    • Understand the business’s needs and propose areas of focus for performance and capacity engineering efforts
    • Improve the performance and capacity engineering practice through the development of new processes, tools, and documentation
    • Plan and drive complex performance and capacity engineering projects with business infrastructure engineering and software development teams to identify root causes of performance issues
    • Develop data analysis frameworks to process and report on data gathered from performance tests to identify root cause of performance bottlenecks
    • Tune application, operating system, and virtual machine settings as well as work with software component owners to drive towards resolving performance bottlenecks
    • Assist in the development of the long term strategy for QA testing, automation testing, load testing and QA best practices
    • Assist in the development of project schedules, accommodate issues, scope or timeline changes and revise work estimates to develop high availability and stability software products and services
    • Assist in the evaluation and/or implementation of tools needed for performance tuning and engineering
    • Act as liaison between Business and technology teams. Mentor Business users on proper procedures for Information Systems related projects, including performance requirement definition and testing.


    What makes you a great fit?

    You’ll be a great fit if in addition to the Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or 5 years of project experience; Experience using TFS or equivalent software for test case development and work item management and/or reporting required, and you have:

    • Record of creating improvements in stability, performance and scalability across major business-critical systems
    • Track record of planning and driving complex performance and capacity engineering projects
    • Demonstrable ability to quickly understand new systems and exercise deep technical knowledge to design and execute tests, the results from which can be used to address performance issues
    • Deep technical understanding of: (a combination of 3 of these is fine, the person does not need to have all of the following)
      • HTTP, TCP/IP, networking technologies
      • Distributed system design
      • Client/server network application development
      • Data systems such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka ○ Linux process and memory management
      • Containers and virtual machines
      • Server and network hardware
      • Cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
    • Experience creating test plans on a load testing tool such as JMeter or LoadRunner 
    • Experience identifying and resolving architecture, software, virtual machine, operating system, hardware, and network system bottlenecks 
    • Ability to write tooling in a programming language such as PERL, Python, Java, Erlang, or GoLang
    • Established background in agile software development methodology (SCRUM/agile), excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment while delivering on defined schedules and adapting to a dynamic environment.
    • Experience working in a Financial Institution preferred
