As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will lead subject matter expert that serves as the go-to person for systems engineering. Attend design sessions and planning meetings to solution designs that cross the credit union's infrastructure while providing technical support to the organization by understanding of Linux, Windows, and cloud-based infrastructure.

 

Responsibilities

  • Identify technical risks, oversee enterprise backup architecture and develop enterprise DR solutions
  • Point person for enterprise storage/compute specifications, risk analysis, integration
  • Analyze and approve complex designs across engineering disciplines, documenting risks and ensuring risk controls and requirements are met
  • Ensure inclusion of inputs into product and technical design reviews from cross functional stakeholders
  • Anticipate technical challenges and risk scenarios and prepare, manage, and execute mitigation strategies to ensure optimal results
  • Utilize creative thinking and teamwork to resolve conflicts and make critical decisions relating to systems deliverables
  • Embrace team and management decisions while raising issues to appropriate level
  • Collaborate with project management to create and manage schedules for project related work
  • Provide engineering consulting and recommendations for new IT systems to ensure the interoperability and adherence to technology standards and policies
  • Serve as a lead for group projects as well as internal IT and business driven initiatives
  • Build, develop, and manage the Windows Systems and Virtual Environment, including organizing the development of Operating System technical support, operational software, and server hardware platform capabilities
  • Define and monitor multiple project priorities and provide technical and administrative supervision; ensure appropriate management is apprised of operational status of projects
  • Provide appropriate hardware/software resources for business applications; perform capacity planning, workload modeling/prediction, and purchasing recommendations for new hardware/software upgrades; provide business applications enough resources for their short-term and long-term growth
  • Document projects deployed and ensure cross-training to team members is completed
  • Ensure environment is updated with current, stable versions of software products; maintain currency with operating system and support software; plan and implement major software upgrades; ensure change management procedures and methodologies are implemented and followed
  • Provide a current, well-managed operating environment for production processing and application development
  • Troubleshoot and successfully diagnose server hardware or software problems of all levels of complexity

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelors Degree - Computer Science, IT or related - Minimum

 

Years of Experience:

 

  • 5 years - Design, configuration, deployment and administration pf network hardware and software or related - Minimum
  • Knowledge of Exchange, VMWare vSphere 6.X, VMWare Horizon, CommVault, Symantec AntiVirus solutions, TrendMicro, SQL 2008/2012/2016, DNS, TCP/IP, DHCP, HP Blade server hardware, Cisco UCS, EMC/DELL Hyper Converged Systems., SAN technologies – Dell/EMC, NetApp and Pure Storage, Experience with building out cloud infrastructure (Azure), Linux (RedHat, Ubuntu, etc), AIX and Python Scripting

 

In Lieu of Education:

 

  • 8 years - Design, configuration, deployment and administration pf network hardware and software

 

Compensation & Benefits:

 

Typical hiring range:‏‏‎ ‎$128,500 ‎-‏‏‎ ‎$186,300 Annually. Actual compensation will be determined using factors such as experience, skills & knowledge.
